3 Truths About CoolSculpting From Albuquerque Medical Spa

Is It Painful? 3 Truths About CoolSculpting®

More people are visiting my medical spa in Albuquerque with questions about CoolSculpting. It’s no surprise, considering the latest statistic related to this non-surgical fat reduction technology: In 2014, the number of non-surgical fat reduction treatments (such as CoolSculpting) increased by 43%, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Although CoolSculpting isn’t new (more than 1 million procedures have been performed worldwide), the volume of patient testimonials and stories that is available online isn’t as large when compared with more traditional cosmetic procedures such as liposuction. For this reason, I wanted to tackle a few lesser-known answers to those frequently asked questions about CoolSculpting:

Is CoolSculpting painful?

In the majority of cases, CoolSculpting is comfortable, and it’s even relaxing for some. During the 1- to 2-hour treatment, patients experience a pulling sensation and mild cold feeling in the targeted area. That being said, some people do report temporary discomfort, redness, swelling, and bruising. It’s important to seek an experienced CoolSculpting provider to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

Can CoolSculpting treat obesity?

No, CoolSculpting is not a treatment for obesity. Rather, good candidates are already in shape and active but still have noticeable bulges they’d like to lose. It is often difficult to remove this type of stubborn fat with diet and exercise alone.

Can everyone receive CoolSculpting treatments?

The truth is no, CoolSculpting is not for everyone. If you have certain medical conditions, such as cryoglobulinemia (a blood disease) or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria (sudden presence of hemoglobin in the urine), you are not likely to be a candidate. As with any medical procedure, ask a physician if this treatment is right for you.
