What Is Cellulite?
Although many people think of cellulite as a byproduct of being overweight, this common aesthetic concern is actually a bit more complex. Cellulite’s telltale dimples are caused by bands of connective tissue that tug on the skin from below. Fat deposits can bulge through these bands, worsening its appearance. Uncontrollable factors including heredity, hormones, and age can all affect a woman’s predisposition to the condition. Therefore, although cellulite can be exacerbated by carrying extra weight, women of all shapes and sizes are susceptible.
